Our Impact - Meakins Cricket Club
In July 2013 we received a letter from Ron Cope of Meakins Cricket Club about their progress since our grant. We love to stay in touch with the individuals and organisations that we support. Ron said:
"Last year, J&G Meakin Cricket Club were extremely fortunate and were awarded a Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation grant application, which as a club we are still extremely grateful. Since the successful application, the Club has taken dramatical strides in attracting juniors to the Club and more importantly participating in the sport. The application enabled the Club to appoint an Cricket Academy Director as the application was for a Head Coach ECB Qualification.
Since our appointment at the beginning of the year, Junior membership has increased from 9 to a very healthy 65 which is an outstanding achievement and this will hopefully provide a solid foundation for the future.
The Club's Academy now has a clear strategic focus that is working. Sessions are well organised, we have been able to enter four new junior teams this year, including a girls U11s softball cricket team. The future is exciting, it seems that we are having new members / enquires on a regular basis.
The Club's Academy has never been in this position before and we are all working hard as a club to continue this progression.
All this has been made possible by the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, without your support & backing, this transformation would not have been possible. On behalf of our Management committee and all our members, I would like to thank you all for making this happen."
